U.S. IMMIGRATION & NATIONALITY LAW

ATTORNEY PROFILE

My practice is devoted to U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Law.  What distinguishes my practice from larger firms is the personalized attention I provide to each client. I take great pride in taking the time needed to listen to my clients' concerns and to clearly explain their options. I offer an honest and thorough consultation, and provide the most professional, creative, and cost-effective solution to immigration needs.

Our legal system is complex. Too often, I have had families come to me after falling prey to an unscrupulous notary public. U.S. Notaries are not qualified nor permitted to provide legal advice and often scam victims by promising them an easy path to legal status only to cheat them out of their hard-earned money while putting them at high risk of deportation. Large law firms that do not specialize in immigration law may not be as up-to-date on the rapidly changing immigration law rules and regulations, and as a result, pass cases on to paralegals.  I have seen people deported because of a failed attempt at doing it themselves. False and incorrect documents can drastically delay the citizenship process or ruin it completely.

E
mpower yourself by calling me for an expert analysis of your situation. Thank you for visiting. I look forward to serving you.

Jamal Jbara, Esq.

Mr. Jbara was born in Puerto Rico to a Palestinian father and Colombian mother. As a first generation Latino/Arab-American, he is sensitive to the language and cultural barriers which often have a negative impact on an immigrant’s access to adequate employment, education, and housing. He has witnessed firsthand how s
uch barriers can render an immigrant vulnerable to abuses that range from exploitation by unscrupulous employers, public notories, and attorneys, to the unfortunate denial of basic human rights by public agencies and the courts.

Mr. Jbara  has distinguished academic credentials. He earned his law degree from Rutgers School of Law in Newark, New Jersey, receiving prestigious public service fellowship awards and scholarships from Rutgers’s Arthur Kinoy
Fellowship, NYU Law School’s Revson Public Interest Fellowship, and the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund.

Mr. Jbara is an advocate at heart who works diligently on behalf of clients. During his tenure with Advocates for Children of New York, Inc., Mr. Jbara was a voice on behalf of schoolchildren with disabilities and disciplinary issues, advocating for fair and proper dispensation of justice and adequate provision of academic and special education services for children. As project director for AFC’s Parent Training Program he conducted advocacy training sessions in English and Spanish for parents throughout New York City’s five boroughs. He served as Citizenship Project Director for CAMBA, Inc., one of the largest community- based organizations in the borough of Brooklyn. Through funding from New York State’s Bureau of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance, Mr. Jbara also provided legal assistance on complex naturalization issues to immigrants from throughout New York City.

Mr. Jbara is fluent in both English and in Spanish. Mr. Jbara is a devoted family man who enjoys spending his free time with his family and children.
